Sailfish Marlin Season On Costa Rica's Pacific Coast

Sailfish Marlin Season On Costa Rica's Pacific Coast

Sport Fishing is a popular sport all over the world, and more and more people are trying their luck at big game fishing, which includes fishing for things like sailfish and marlin. Sailfish can be found all over the world, where ever saltwater is warm and temperate. Marlins are going to be found in tropical oceanic waters, including in the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean. However, one of the best places in the world to pursue both fish would be on Costa Rica's Pacific cost, a fishing hotbed.

There are numerous reasons why these fish are so popular with some of the biggest reasons including the size, strength, fighting ability, and action that come along with catching these giants. Sailfish are blue to gray in color, have a beautiful dorsal fin that looks like a sail and stretches the length of the fish's back, and have a long bill. While the biggest ones are around 10 feet in length and 200 pounds in weight, they can swim up to 70 miles an hour. It is because of the size, speed, and the ability to make spectacular jumps out of the water that fishermen love catching them.

The reason marlins are so popular to fish for is because of the incredible sizes they can reach. For example, the Black marlin can reach sizes of 16 feet in length and 1,500 pounds in weight. Marlins can have slight variations in color depending on the species, including blue, black, and silver. They all have long bills, a long dorsal fin, and a very long body.

While these fish can be found along Costa Rica's Pacific coast, Playa Tamarindo stands out as the fishing hot spot. The waters off shore provide perfect fishing conditions for Tamarindo Sport Fishing. This amazing coastline faces a continental shelf that has warm and deep water, which is perfect water to catch marlin and sailfish.

While there is no legal fishing seasons, the peak time to fish is AprilAugust and NovemberMarch. Large charter boats are often taking people offshore in search of sailfish and blue, black, and striped marlin. During NovemberMarch, there are normally high winds and high waters, but this is again the perfect time to do some deepwater fishing.

Playa Tamarindo is the perfect place to catch a variety of big fish no matter what the season, and you will have no problem finding a charter boat to take you out. Other species of fish are available in this area, and most charter boats for catching marlin and sailfish practice catch and release practices to conserve the population.
